Meet Lukiki Akola

Lukiki Akola began her journey at The Care Center after moving to the U.S. from Central Africa in 2015. Mother to four-year-old Emily, Lukiki is a speaker of seven languages, and her confidence in her own voice and writing grew over her time in Clemente and at Bard. Lukiki is excited to continue her education and has been accepted into Bay Path University where she will be working on her bachelors degree. She wants to use her experience and language skills to offer support and resources to her local community and inspire a new generation of women.

The Care Center gave me hope and a desire for change. They actually cared about me and my child. I quickly earned my GED at 16 years old.
