Nation’s First College for Young Moms Opens at The Care Center

The Care Center has partnered with Bard College to launch the nation’s first college for low-income women whose educations have been interrupted or postponed by pregnancy and parenting. The Care Center is now a campus of Bard College and the home of Bard Microcollege Holyoke, which offers a fully accredited Associate in Arts degree program. Record Number of Students Graduate

On the first of July, under a giant tent outside of the Wisteriahurst Museum, muggy weather and impending rain weren't going to stop our determined graduates! A record-breaking 41 students passed the HiSET this year, most of whom will head off to college in the fall. Gloria Steinem Speaks at Fundraising Luncheon

Our 30th Anniversary Fundraising Luncheon on March 28 was attended by more than 500 guests. Gloria Steinem made the keynote speech and Senator Elizabeth Warren congratulated The Care Center with a video message. Students and staff of The Care Center also gave inspiring speeches. Clemente Course receives National Humanities Medal at White House

The Clemente Course in the Humanities, a college-level course offered at The Care Center in partnership with Bard College won the 2014 National Humanities Medal. President Obama awarded the medal at the White House on September 10, 2015. Previous recipients include Joyce Carol Oates, Toni Morrison, and John Updike.
