Corey’s Unique Path to Mount Holyoke

Shacoria “Corey” Baldwin is one of the thirteen women who graduated from Bard Microcollege Holyoke in the spring of 2020. Meet Lukiki Akola

Lukiki Akola began her journey at The Care Center after moving to the U.S. from Central Africa in 2015. Mother to four-year-old Emily, Lukiki is a speaker of seven languages, and her confidence in her own voice and writing grew over her time in Clemente and at Bard. Meet Candice

One of the first graduates of Bard Microcollege Holyoke, Candice Pelletier is now completing her Bachelor’s degree at Smith College on a full scholarship. Like many women who find The Care Center, Candice’s path to college took a few unusual turns. Meet Julisa DeLeón, a young mother studying psychology at Mount Holyoke College. Julisa first learned about The Care Center in the waiting room of a health clinic. Having dropped out of college twice, first because of financial constraints and then when she became pregnant, the supports offered by The Care Center (daycare, transportation, meals) were compelling.
