In 2011, The Care Center was awarded the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, presented by the President’s Council on the Arts and Humanities. One of twelve organizations nationwide to win the award, The Care Center’s Executive Director Anne Teschner had the opportunity to travel to the White House with two students to accept the award from First Lady Michelle Obama. The Care Center’s arts and humanities programs have inspired our students to continue their education beyond high school. Since 2008, 75% of our graduates have enrolled in college.
Anne Teschner explains “We want the students to see that they are part of something larger–that they are part of the human experience and that they are entitled to take part in the public dialogue.” Learn more about our humanities programs.
