Breaking Ground on Roqué House!

It’s really happening! Our wonderful partner Way Finders is breaking ground on the site that will soon be home to Roqué House.

As part of the Library Commons revitalization project in downtown Holyoke, Roqué House will support young parents while they earn a college degree or other credential that will lead to economic self-sufficiency. It will provide affordable apartment-style housing, personal and academic counseling, and arts and educational programming.

The Care Center’s arts and humanities curriculum is at the heart of what we do, and Roqué House has been designed to reinforce this approach. A teaching artist-in-residence will live on-site and work with residents and administrators to bring lectures, poetry readings, workshops, film screenings, dance performances, concerts and other events to the building. The resident will also work closely with students to develop community cultural projects. Occupancy is slated for late fall of 2020. We are thrilled to be partnering with Way Finders on this important development.

The Care Center gave me hope and a desire for change. They actually cared about me and my child. I quickly earned my GED at 16 years old.
